Also Vacon DriveSynch, a new fully redundant control concept for parallelling high-power Vacon NXP drives, will be introduced for the first time. Vacon‘s low-voltage, high-power liquid-cooled AC drives are specifically designed and easily adaptable for the needs of the marine and offshore industries. Type approval certificates have been issued by Bureau Veritas and Det Norske Veritas, and approval procedures are underway also with several other certification bodies. “Our modularized technology platform allows us to provide liquid-cooled low-voltage AC drives up to several megawatts. We have several system integrator partners in the marine and offshore business to whom our liquid-cooled drives are a preferred choice for various reasons, such as their space-saving benefits, silent operation and a low level of heat load, emission and harmonics,” says Mr Heikki Hiltunen, Executive Vice President, Vacon. Vacon offers liquid-cooled AC drives in the power range of 7.5 kW – 5 MW and in voltage ranges of 380 – 500 V and 525 – 690 V. These products can be supplied by a three- or six-phase rectifier or by an active front-end rectifier. The Vacon NXP is used as the control platform, and the control concept is based on the Vacon DriveSynch technology, which allows the control of one motor by means of 2 to 4 power units of 100 – 2,500 kW, thus bringing significant redundancy in the processes controlled by AC drives. “Vacon is an ideal partner for system integrators.
